This morning in our Bible Study and Prayer Service, we studied about Seeking the Lord, and how to enter into His perfect rest. Main Scripture: Psalms 27 (Read entire chapter) Reference Scriptures: Psalms 95: 10-11 and Hebrews 4: 1-7, Matthew 6, 2 Chrons 7:14, and Psalms 51.
In Psalms 27, David sought the Lord for protection from His enemies. In Psalms 51, He sought God for mercy and forgiveness for his sins. As we read many of the Pslams of David, we see how he sought God continually. Seeking God was His life. It was not a part of his life, but it was what David lived and breathed each day. He lived to seek the Lord and to please him. How do we seek the Lord? Does it mean praying and trying to find out what God looks like in the natural? Or does it mean seeking him in prayer and dedication so that we will know how to transformed into his perfect spiritual image, and knowing Him in spirit and in truth.
We seek God first of all for spiritual blessings. Matthew 6:32-34 (in Context)We ask Him to crucify all of our dead works of the flesh so that we will become a holy vessel . We cannot be used by God, or make it into His kingdom, if we are not Holy. Whenever we bow down in prayer, the first act of righteousness that we must do is repent from our sins.2 Chronicles 7:14 Sincere repentance will allow God to hear us and answer our prayers. Isaiah 59:2.
Don’t try to act like you have not committed any sins. Acknowledge your wrong doings. The more that you pray and repent, God will cleanse you from all filtiness of the flesh. But, you do have to confess your sins! The 2nd thing that we must do is acknowledge God’s mercy and forgiveness and accept it.Psalm 51:1-3 After we have repented from sin, God has already cast it into the sea of forgiveness. It is time for us to move on and began to praise God for who He is as well as for all that He has done for us in our lives. Don’t look back remembering what God has forgotten.
We then began to ask God to reveal His perfect will for our lives. Matthew 6:9-11 (in Context) Cleanse us from all works of iniquity, and deliver us from sins of bondage. Ask God to teach us how to pray and live a holy life that is pleasing in His sight. We also ask Him to teach us how to be humble and obedient to His word.Matthew 6 (Whole Chapter) We have to be righteous! There is no way around it. The more that we seek God for His perfect will in our lives, He will reveal His righteousness to us, and teach us how to become rigthteous.
If we really want to please the Lord and be filled with His spirit, we will have to constantly seek his face. It cannot be an every now and then relationship. It has to be a total committment, a daily dedication. I have been teaching and preaching this same thing for years ; a prayer life is neccessary! Set aside some time each morning, afternoon, and at night to spend with time with God in prayer and reading His word. Separate yourself from the spirutal tumors and toxic relationships. Forget about what people say about you and how they feel about your walk with God. You are seeking God, and not approval from the world. Your committment to Christ must always come first.
The more time that you spend seeking God, the more time that you will want to spend with Him. You will see your life getting better, and you will see your soul flourishing and prospering in the Lord. You will began to love and enjoy your walk with God, and will not want anything to separate you from Him. Remember, at the end of the day, we are truly seeking God so that we will be able to go back with Him when he comes to rapture up the church. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
I pray that you will be blessed today as you began to seek the Lord. (R) Evangelist Janice Chambers
